What CEU Courses are Allowed in Oklahoma?

There are hundreds of CEUs available to Oklahoma PTs, but only some will count. In order for your continuing education courses to apply to your license renewal, they must satisfy the Oklahoma Physical Therapists Committee.

Generally, the Committee approves courses that are either provided or approved by the following:

  • Any agency or board responsible for licensing physical therapists in the US or Canada
  • APTA, including state chapters and any subsidiaries
  • The FSBPT and any accrediting subsidiary
  • IACET
  • An agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or Council on Postsecondary Accreditation, so long as the CEU is for physical therapy

You can find a rolling list of approved courses through this link. Keep in mind that, if your course does not appear on the current list, it will not qualify as continuing education. However, you can request approval for a new course or activity through CE Broker.

If you’re still unsure whether a course or activity qualifies for continuing education, contact the Board.

Do I need to submit proof of my completed CEUs?

Every legitimate CEU provider, including MedBridge, will give you a certificate of completion when you finish a CEU course or activity. But the Oklahoma Physical Therapists Committee does not require this document or any other proof of your CEU completion with your license renewal.

Instead, you will simply report the CEU information on your application and retain the records for at least 4 years after your license renewal period ends. Be sure to store these documents safely in case you are selected by the board for a continuing competency audit.

May I carry over any completed CEUs?

No. The Oklahoma Physical Therapists Committee does not permit any CEUs to be carried over to a future renewal period.

How much is the renewal fee?

It costs $50 to renew a PT license and $35 to renew a PTA license.
